Project Description
The Driven Company partnered with Pipster Solutions to design and deliver a full-day training programme on PAS 2080: Carbon Management in buildings and infrastructure. The course, held at Heywood House on 7th May 2025, brought together infrastructure professionals across the highways and construction sectors to deepen understanding of carbon reduction through the value chain. The course was co-delivered by Dr Helen Bailey and Dr Miles Watkins, both recognised leaders in sustainability and infrastructure strategy.
Work Undertaken
The training day was delivered through four interactive sessions:
- Tendering Landscape – Introduced National Highways’ Environmental Sustainability Strategy, supplier requirements, and integration of PAS 2080 into procurement
- Carbon, Climate Change and PAS 2080 – Built foundational understanding of climate science, embodied carbon, and infrastructure-specific impacts
- Implementing PAS 2080 – Explored key clauses (leadership, decision-making, procurement, baselines, reporting) and the carbon reduction hierarchy
- Practical Application – Reviewed case studies to demonstrate measurable carbon savings and lessons learned
Benefits to the Client
- Capability Uplift: Teams gained strategic and operational knowledge of PAS 2080, readying them for compliance with upcoming National Highways mandates
- Tender Advantage: Insights into how to frame low-carbon solutions in bids improved competitive positioning
- Cross-sectoral Insight: Lessons learned across highways, rail, and concrete infrastructure projects
- Carbon Leadership: Improved ability to demonstrate leadership, data readiness, and value chain engagement in line with industry expectations
“The PAS 2080 training delivered by The Driven Company was excellent – it cut through the complexity and helped our clients understand both the strategic importance and the practical steps needed to embed whole-life carbon management. We now feel more confident in aligning with National Highways’ requirements and positioning ourselves for future tenders.”
