Project Description
Associated Asphalt partnered with Driven to deliver its Accredited Minerals & Highways Carbon Literacy Programme, designed specifically for professionals operating in asphalt production, surfacing and highway infrastructure.
The objective was clear: to build practical carbon competence across the business, aligning operational delivery with client expectations, PAS 2080 principles and the wider net zero transition within highways and infrastructure.
Unlike generic sustainability training, this programme is tailored to the realities of asphalt production, contracting environments, material logistics and site-based operations.
Work Undertaken
Driven delivered its sector-specific, accredited Minerals & Highways Carbon Literacy programme, contextualised to Associated Asphalt’s operational model and strategic priorities.
The programme included:
- Climate science fundamentals translated into infrastructure risk and opportunity
- Carbon accounting principles (Scope 1, 2 and 3) applied to asphalt production and contracting
- Embodied carbon in materials and whole-life carbon thinking in line with PAS 2080
- Practical workshops focused on procurement, plant operations, fleet, design influence and site practices
- Facilitated group discussions to identify credible organisational and individual carbon reduction actions
- Accreditation through The Carbon Literacy Project, including submission and approval of learner pledges
A key component of the programme was the structured development of group and individual action plans, ensuring learning translated into measurable operational change.
