Technical support – MPA Lime

The Driven Company Associates provides ongoing technical support to the Mineral Products Association Lime (MPA Lime) team, focusing on the use of lime in asphalt applications. The aims are to enhance the understanding of lime’s properties and performance within asphalt mixtures, which contribute to improved durability, stability and sustainability in highway materials. This project involves detailed assessments, technical research and collaboration, providing support for lime industry promotion of the use of hydrated lime in asphalt formulations.

Work Undertaken

  • Laboratory trials to assess the performance of different lime sources in asphalt mixtures.
  • Detailed reviews of the chemical and physical properties of lime.
  • Project specification and site installation support for full scale demonstration of hydrated lime in asphalt surfacing on the UK trunk road network, with a parallel control for long term performance comparison monitoring.
  • Collaboration to align on best practices and guidelines.
